SpaceX Expands Starlink Constellation with 201st Satellite Launch

On October 30, 2024, SpaceX successfully launched its 201st batch of Starlink satellites from Cape Canaveral, adding 23 new units to its ambitious global internet constellation. This recent addition brings the Starlink network to an impressive total of 7,209 satellites orbiting Earth, advancing SpaceX’s mission of providing high-speed internet to even the most remote areas.

Launched aboard a Falcon 9 rocket, the satellites entered low Earth orbit, where they’ll soon join their predecessors in forming a “satellite train” visible from the ground in some regions, especially during clear evenings. This mesmerizing view, often mistaken for a meteor shower, has become a popular sight among skywatchers worldwide.

Looking ahead, SpaceX has already planned its 202nd launch for November 3, aiming to add another 23 satellites to its Starlink network. With this accelerated schedule, SpaceX is rapidly closing in on its goal of a fully operational, high-density satellite array, which will eventually consist of thousands of satellites working together to deliver fast, reliable internet across the globe.

For those eager to catch a glimpse, apps like Star Walk 2 or online platforms like Heavens-Above offer real-time tracking, showing when the next “train” of satellites will be visible in your area.
